Internationally renowned pediatric oncologist, Chair of the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix, Senior Vice President of Research at Phoenix Children's and Sybil B Harrington Endowed Chair of Oncology. He oversees a research program of over 700 studies. Previously served 23 years at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as Division Head of Hematology-Oncology, Neuro-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation. Has published more than 170 peer-reviewed articles. MD from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.

Started his career as clinical research fellow in the Headache Group of Peter Goadsby at Queen Square, London, focusing on electrophysiological correlates in migraine. From 2010–2012 head of the Headache and Pain Unit at the University Hospital of Zurich. From 2012 continued research and clinical work at RehaClinic Bad Zurzach, serving as Chief Physician of Neurology until 2021. Former president of the Swiss Headache Society. Research focus includes medication overuse headache, menstrual migraine, and CGRP-antibodies. Has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Originally trained in internal medicine and oncology; currently serves as independent consultant in drug development to Biotechnology companies and NGOs in Global Health. Over 35 years of experience in international clinical research through all clinical stages from IND to Life Cycle Management across oncology, infectious disease, rheumatology, metabolic disease, cardiovascular, and transplantation medicine. Has contributed to over 30 successful new drug applications. Previously held senior roles at Lederle, Roche, Ciba Geigy and Novartis. Served 2000–2013 as Chief Development Officer and CEO of Basilea Pharmaceutica.

M.Sc., Ph.D. Professor of Biochemistry at McGill University's Goodman Cancer Institute and the Department of Biochemistry in Montreal (2002–present). Also Senior Director of Research at Kreamedica Inc. Scientific Advisor at Curatis AG (2010–present). Author of over 90 high-impact peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and patents. Previously held leadership roles at Boehringer Ingelheim and the Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry. Ph.D. in Biochemistry from McGill University; Fogarty/DFG fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), USA. Research expertise spans cancer biology, virology, and metabolic diseases.
